STEP 1

The first step in hand casting is to prepare the molding mixture. Begin by combining the molding powder with the specified amount of water in the provided bucket. Stir until the mixture is as smooth as possible, though a few lumps are fine. Give the bucket a good shake to eliminate any air bubbles.

STEP 2

After pouring the mixture into the bucket, immerse your hands carefully. For couples, both hands should go in together. Remove any jewelry beforehand (check FAQs if unsure).

Wait patiently until the mixture sets, which takes 5 minutes. Once set, gently wiggle your fingers to remove your hands and reveal a detailed impression.

STEP 3

Next, prepare the casting stone by mixing the casting powder with water according to the kit instructions. Ensure there are no lumps or air bubbles before pouring the mix into the mold. Once ready, pour the mixture into the mold and gently tap the bucket to help it settle. Allow the casting to fully set, which may take several hours.

STEP 4

Once the casting stone has set, it's time for the reveal. Invert the bucket and gently press the sides to release the mold. Carefully peel off the alginate in small chunks to reveal your hand cast. While it may have some rough edges, don't worry—once dry, you can smooth them with sandpaper and enhance the details using the metal detailing stick provided.
